Tamarind (Asam) Slices

Assam is sometimes known as 'tamarind' and its skin is often used in south east Asian cuisines. Assam skins are usually soaked or boiled in broths and have a distinct mouth-watering tang; it is a key ingredient for Nonya Malaysian dishes such as the Assam Laksa.
